Sheikh Jassim will reportedly make an ambitious move to sign Kylian Mbappe if he takes over Manchester United this summer.
The Qatari billionaire is hoping to see off interest from British tycoon Sir Jim Radcliffe in the race to replace the Glazers at Old Trafford and appears to be planning a sizeable spending spree if his bid is successful.
According to German newspaper BILD, PSG superstar Mbappe will be the club’s primary target, but they’ll also look to sign two of the Frenchman’s international team-mates; Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman and Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
Erik ten Hag is expected to make sweeping changes to his squad ahead of the 2023/24 season with United looking to bolster all areas of the pitch.
A new striker is the current priority following Cristiano Ronaldo’s mid-season departure, but it’s understood the club are also looking to bring in another central midfielder, a centre-back and possibly even a replacement for David de Gea in goal, given the Spaniard’s general dip in form.
Both Jassim and Radcliffe have submitted bids of over £5bn, but there’s a chance the Glazers could stay on as owners following reports an American hedge fund had offered financial backing.
Camavinga (L) and Coman (R) will also be targetd by United if Jassim takes the club over
Mbappe has linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes for some time and with his contract set to expire in 2024 the Red Devils are in with a genuine chance of snapping him up without breaking the bank.
Camavinga only joined Madrid last year but has found himself playing at left-back for much of the campaign and the impending arrival of Jude Bellingham suggests he might struggle for minutes next season, and could be gettable if he were to force a move away.
Coman meanwhile has seen his game-time drop since Sadio Mane’s summer move to the Allianz, though the former Liverpool forward is reportedly on the chopping block following his physical altercation with Leroy Sane, which could solve Coman’s problem.
